One of the most underused of our sensory organs is our ears. Most of us don’t listen well at all. We either half listen (while distracted by social media, others around us, or distracted by our own thoughts), we listen with the intent to respond (either to solve, correct, or fix), we tune out or totally ignore the speaker (deciding whatever is being communicated is not important or not worthy of our time). It sounds harsh to say this, but it’s very true. We don’t even listen to ourselves. We dismiss our gut instincts. We go against our moral codes of conduct. We don’t gather proper information before making decisions. I say we…but I’m writing this for myself. My goal for this year is to work on listening and intently living MY life. I’m open to experience, learn and grow to be better than I was yesterday.
